It's taken more than half a decade to have 2.4.0 reasonably well 
supported.  I wouldn't count on folks jumping on board for a new 
version.  The only thing that's been seriously considered is a revision 
of the spec to clear up some ambiguities and even at that, I don't think 
there's anyone doing concrete work on such.
