Hi,

As a publisher, I know that prior to publishing, I can populate my ID3 tags with all sorts of information; but I'm also aware that any end-user can simply delete or modify any of my tags if they so choose. I know that using custom tags can make this a little more difficult, since some tag editors are only capable of deleting fields they recognise and not just ALL ID3 tags, but the potential is still there.

I'd love it if there was a way to lock a tag somehow, and if any of you know of a way, I'd be glad to hear it, but that's not my main question today...

I want to add an ISRC code to a product, but I want to know if the ISRC field in ID3 is simply an editible tag that can easily be deleted/modified or if it can act like one of the fixed file attributes like the ones I've just described?

If you compare it to ISAN, which is a similar system used for video files, all the major video formats have a placeholder for an ISAN code, which is separate from the tags, meaning one can be confident of it remaining as part of the file regardless of any additional tag editing. I want to know if ISRC can be embedded in the same way for audio files?

I realise this may not really come under the ID3 domain, but I'm hoping some of you could shed some light or point me in the right direction?

Thanks
