[ID3 Dev] ID3v1 <-> ID3v2

Hi,
I am new to this list, I am from France. Maybe the question has already
been asked.
I would like to know if in a mp3 files what are the relations between
ID3v1 an ID3v2 tags.
I mean are the ID3v2 tags relying on the ID3v1 tags for common
informations or are this informations stored twice in the file ?
