[ID3 Dev] patents

Does anyone know, or have a view about, whether the recent courtroom  
shenanigans regarding mp3 patents have any bearing on the creation  
and use of ID3 tags? Particularly whether or not we, as developers of  
tagging software, have anything to be concerned about.

It seems that maybe doing anything even vaguely connected with mp3  
could be seen as swimming in shark-infested waters.
